2 lb ground beef
1 cup quick oats
1 Tbsp honey
1/2 tsp garlic powder or 2 cloves garlic, chopped
1 Tbsp basil
1/4 onion, finely chopped (optional)
1/2 cup boiling water
to taste salt and pepper
dash cayenne pepper
1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)
dash allspice
Put all the ingredients in a bowl and mix well. Form into a loaf and bake in any pan that will leave some drainage around the meat for the grease to accumulate so it can be drained off easily.
Bake at 375 °F for 45 minutes or until done.
Optional but delicious - mix up some orange juice, brown sugar, and ketchup and put under and over loaf before it goes into the oven. This was delicious!

Yes, you would bake it uncovered the entire time.
