Pancakes (Egg and Milk-Free)

Ingredients

1 cup flour
1 Tbsp sugar
1 tsp baking powder
1 cup water
1/4-1/3 cup oil
1/3-1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)

Directions

Mix and cook on a well-seasoned, well-heated griddle.

Notes

We double this now that our son is a voracious teenager. His favorite variation of this is Apple Cinnamon Pancakes.

Substitutions


Corn Substitutions: Corn is a common ingredient in products. Starch, modified food starch, dextrin and maltodextrin can be from corn. Consult with your physician to find out which corn derivatives you need to avoid. Many corn-free options are available in the US. Find out more about corn substitutions.

Gluten: Gluten is a protein found in specific grains (wheat, spelt, kamut, barley, rye). Other grains are naturally gluten-free but may have cross-contact with gluten-containing grains. thanks for the recipe!!

I've been looking for recipe's eggs and milk free instead of buying these foods which are expensive and have other bad ingredients in them for shelf life if you have any other recipe's be free to email me

What are the measurements in metric ie ml and grams? Thanks

That's a great question Elizabeth. Converting the liquid measurements is fairly straightforward. There are charts for other ingredients like flour and sugar that you can find by searching.

We love these. We add all kinds of stuff to them. Pumpkin spice, cinnamon, blueberries etc!

Can the mix be made the night before, before bed and stored for use in the morning?

Worst pancakes i ever made i had it on low and cooking so long the outside burned but the inside still gooey and when i squished it out of it and it had no taste we added stuff on top and it was still bad

Kelsi - I wouldn't recommend mixing up the batter the night before. You could mix up the dry ingredients separately and the wet separately the night before and then combine them in the morning.

Hi Brooke - sorry to hear the recipe did not work for you. Generally, pancakes do best on a fairly hot griddle. It might be that cooking them on low was not hot enough to cook the inside. Another possibility is that the batter may have been too thick. That can make it hard for them to cook through.

Kristin - any light, neutral flavored oil would work.

Natashia - I'm so glad the recipe worked in a pinch when you were out of milk and eggs!

Carol and Rick - so sorry to hear the recipe didn't work for either of you. My first though is overmixing. My experience with egg free recipes is that you have to mix lightly or you loose all the bubbles.

These are terrific! My husband and I put cinnamon and vanilla. Very tasty. Oh and if the mix comes out watery add more flour..

Hi um can a kid make these. Cuz I am a doubting 12 year old. I don't think I can do this.

Worked great for me. Tasted good too. I was a little worried reading some of the comments. But they worked amazing. Follow recipe and cook on medium to high stove top pan or skillet and it works fine. I have a picky 9 yr old little girl who loves pancakes and she didn’t mention a thing when she ate them. I ran out of eggs and milk last night and didn’t want to go to store this morning. Soooo made these. Thanks for the recipe!

Too bad u can’t add pics cuz they looked great too lol
