Recipe Created By: Jddreyfus
2 tsp Lyle's Golden Syrup®
1/2 tsp vanilla or almond extract
assorted food coloring (optional)
2 tsp rice milk
1 cup confectioners (powdered) sugar
In a small bowl, stir together confectioner's sugar and milk until smooth. Beat in Lyle's golden syrup and vanilla until icing is smooth and glossy. If icing is too thick, add more golden syrup.
Divide into separate bowls and add food colorings as desired. Dip cookies or paint them with a pastry brush.
This recipe dries smooth and shiny and works great for cookies. It wouldn't work for making flowers or anything like that though.
You might have to add a little extra rice milk and syrup to get it to the right consistency for cookies.
Corn syrup can be used for golden syrup.

Would this work well for putting on cake pops?
I don't know, but that sounds like a great idea to try! It looks similar to a glaze I've used on petit fours. It's more translucent than a white chocolate would be, but might work. Please let us know how it works if you try it!
Would this work as a glue to put a gingerbread house together?
S - it probably wouldn't work well for wall construction, but might work for putting lighter items onto the gingerbread house. I would probably make it a little thicker than the recipe calls for.
