Food Allergy ResourcesHolidays Pose Extra Risks for Those with Food Allergies
Holidays Pose Extra Risks for Those with Allergies KFA members have found hidden allergens in these holiday dangers and, in some cases, reported allergic reactions to them: 1. Christmas trees 2. Store-bought and homemade crafts and ornaments 3. Gift wrapping (Report of a gift that was wrapped in a used pizza box) 4. Holiday parades (Report of a child tripping and falling into goat's milk) 5. Scented candles 6. Wood logs (Duraflame™ logs contain crushed nut shells.) 7. Gifts (Holiday-themed candies may be included inside your child's gifts from others.) 8. Holiday dinners and parties 9. The Nutcracker (Some theaters serve warm nuts during intermission.) 10. Santa (Some elves pass out candy while children wait in line.) For more information about holiday dangers, read these articles from National Jewish Health and U.S. News. Previously published in KFA e-news, December, 2009. Kids With Food Allergies is a nonprofit charity. More than 80% of KFA's financial support comes from donors like you. If KFA has helped you in some way, please make a donation to support our work. |
