  • Hosts prepare the Showdown recipes in their kitchens for the party
  • Party hosts share educational information from KFA with their guests

Showdown Theme: Grillin' & Chillin'

Summer is here and the grillin' is easy! Whether it's a family BBQ or a weeknight meal, grilling is a summer tradition. Grilling can be used to create nearly any course of a meal from appetizers to desserts. But it wouldn't be a party if there wasn't some chillin' as well. To escape the heat, there's nothing like a cold, refreshing drink or dessert.

Secret "Withouts": Dairy/Milk, Peanuts, Tree Nuts, Fish, Shellfish

Grilled cheeseburgers, ice cream cones, peanut butter & jelly sandwiches… None of these will be found on the Showdown's menu... Our challengers will satisfy the crowds without using dairy, peanut, tree nuts, fish and shellfish.

How You Can Get Involved

How to Participate as a Party Host
If you believe in KFA's mission to create better lives for children with food allergies today, we urge you to show your support by hosting a Showdown party. A full "Party Kit" is available for party hosts. KFA provides you with a planning checklist, recipes for your menu, invitations, recipe scorecards, and educational materials for your party. You provide the location and the guests!

Anyone is welcome to host a party, including business owners, support group leaders, KFA members, physicians; it is not a requirement to be a KFA member in order to host a party.

Download the Showdown Fundraiser Party Kit now.

Parties can be as large as a support group event, or as small as a family barbeque.

Judging the Recipes
Guests at Showdown parties will be judging the Showdown recipes. The recipes will be rated on a 4-star system for appearance, taste, and popularity. The total number of stars that each judge can award a recipe is 12. The scores will be averaged in order to determine the winner.

If you are a KFA member and cannot host a party, you can still participate! The recipes have been listed on the KFA Support Forums. You may prepare any of the recipes, cast your vote and send in a donation to participate in this national event!

The winning recipe will be featured on Kids With Food Allergies' home page. The recipe creator for the winning recipe will be acknowledged with a special avatar and a special token thank you gift.

However, the focus of this event is FUN and Fundraising.
