Allergy-Free Candy Recipe:Easy Chocolate Cherries
A dairy-free and nut-free candy option for kids with food allergies.

Ingredients
1 12 oz bag chocolate chips (dairy & nut-free) 1 1/2 cups dried cherries (about 1 1/2 5 oz bags)
Instructions
Put chocolate in glass bowl. Microwave until melted, checking and stirring after each minute. This will take about four minutes.
Put cherries into melted chocolate, and stir until all mixed together.
Put waxed paper on a cookie sheet. Drop chocolate mixture by spoonfuls onto waxed paper. This will make between 15 and 24 candies, depending on how big you make them.
Chill for 3 to 3 1/2 hours in the refrigerator.

Challenger's Statement:
I was so excited to see candy as the theme for this contest! I took a batch of these to a recent party, where no one knew they were allergy-friendly, and they were a huge hit. I got a number of requests for *where did you buy those?* People seemed to really enjoy the fact that the cherries inside were dry, not wet, but were still sweet.
Substitutions
To avoid soy, select chips without soy lecithin. Enjoy Life Foods makes chocolate chips that are free of soy lecithin.
Use milk, soy, peanut, tree nut, corn free ingredients as needed.
