Oregon Ice Cream Company Issues Allergy Alert on Undeclared Peanuts in Denali Bear Claw Ice Cream



FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- July 23, 2010 - Eugen, OR - Oregon Ice Cream Company LLC of Eugene, OR is voluntarily recalling 641 tubs of 3 gallon Denali Bear Claw ice cream, because it may contain undeclared peanuts. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Denali Bear Claw ice cream was distributed in the following states: Oregon, Washington, California, Idaho, Nevada, Montana, Arizona, and Alaska. Consumers can buy this product at ice cream scoop shops or from Cash & Carry stores.

The product can be easily identified by the label on the side of the 3 gallon tub. The label reads in part "Denali Bear Claw", Distributed by Oregon Ice Cream Company, Plant 41-90, 3 gallons, 10124, 061041. The affected lot code of product is 10124 and the item number of the product is 061041.
No illnesses have been reported to date.

The recall was initiated after it was discovered that product containing peanuts was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of peanuts. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by accidental use of ingredients with very similar packaging during production.

Consumers who have purchased Denali Bear Claw are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund if in the original container, otherwise destroy the product. Dulcería Chepito is recalling Chepito Dulces Tropicales - Almejas due to undeclared egg.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- July 23, 2010 - Dulcería Chepito located on Cabo Rojo, PR, is recalling its 6 ounce packages of "Chepito Dulces Tropicales - Almejas" (Tropical Candies) because they may contain undeclared eggs. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious allergic reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled products "Almejas" were distributed locally (PR) in retail stores of the west side of the island. The voluntary recall was initiated after it was discovered that the ingredients list did not reveal the presence of eggs.

No illnesses or complaints have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

DeBoles® Nutritional Foods, Inc. Voluntarily Recalls One Lot Code of DeBoles® Kids Only! Gluten Free Tubettini Corn Pasta Due to the Presence of an Undeclared Wheat, Lot Code 30JUN11D1

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - July 21, 2010 - DeBoles Nutritional Foods, Inc. announced that it is recalling one lot code of DeBoles® Kids Only! Gluten Free Tubettini Corn Pasta because it may contain undeclared whole wheat alphabet pasta. People who are allergic to wheat run the risk of an allergic reaction, which may be serious or life-threatening if they consume the recalled product.

The recalled lot was distributed to stores nationwide and through internet orders.

The product comes in a cardboard box, 8.5 ounce, with a clear plastic window. The expiration lot code is on the top of the box and the UPC Code 087336638305 appears on the bottom of the box. No other lot codes are affected. This recall only affects:

Deboles kids only! gluten free tubettini corn pasta

Lot code: 30JUN11D1


No illnesses have been reported in connection with this product. It appears that certain product boxes in lot code 30JUN11D1 may contain whole wheat alphabet pasta mixed with the gluten-free tubettini corn pasta in packaging that did not declare wheat as an allergen and, as a result, the product is being recalled. The alphabet pasta is clearly visible and is a darker color and characteristic alphabet shape compared to the yellow corn small-tube pasta.

Consumers who have purchased 8.5 ounce packages of DeBoles® Kids Only Gluten Free Tubettini Corn Pasta with Lot Number 30JUN11D1 are urged to return such packages to their place of purchase for a full refund. Sulfite Allergy Alert



Diamond Usa Inc. Issues Allergy Alert On Undeclared Sulfites In "Dry Apricot Rolled"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- July 13, 2010 - Diamond USA Inc. is recalling its 1 lb packages with code#01-12-2010 of "Dry Apricot Rolled" because they contain undeclared sulfites. People who have severe sensitivities to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product.

The recalled Dry Apricot Rolled was distributed in New York, New Jersey, Virginia, and California to retail stores. The product comes in a 1 lb sealed package with code #01-12-2010. It is a product of Afghanistan.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the "Dry Apricot Rolled" revealed it contained 53.24 milligrams per serving.

No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.

Walnut Allergy Alert



Quality Food Center (QFC) Recalls Broccoli Raisin Salad for Undeclared Allergen


FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- July 10 SEATTLE, July 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Quality Food Center (QFC) stores said today it is recalling select containers of Broccoli Raisin Salad because they may contain walnuts not listed on the label.

Customers should return the product to stores for a full refund or replacement.

People who are allergic to walnuts could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this product. For consumers who are not allergic to walnuts, there is no safety issue with the product.

The Broccoli Raisin Salad being recalled was sold by the pound in the deli service department of some QFC stores on July 10. This is the only date that is affected.

The containers were sold in select QFC stores in Oregon and Washington.

QFC is using its Customer Recall Notification system that alerts customers who may have purchased recalled Class 1 products through register receipt tape messages and phone calls.

Wheat & Soy Allergy Alert



M&K II Company recalls Firehouse Jerky Mild Beef & Pepper Beef Jerky due to undeclared wheat & soy.


WASHINGTON, July 6, 2010 - M&K II Co., a Macomb, Mich., establishment, is recalling approximately 8,000 pounds of beef jerky products because they contain undeclared allergens, wheat and soy, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

The products subject to recall include: [View Labels]
1-ounce and 3-ounce packages of "FIREHOUSE JERKY MILD BEEF JERKY SMOKE FLAVOR ADDED." "Sell By" dates ranging between 06/16/11 and 11/14/11 are ink jetted on the back of each package.
1-ounce and 3-ounce packages of "FIREHOUSE JERKY PEPPER BEEF JERKY SMOKE FLAVOR ADDED." "Sell By" dates ranging between 06/12/11 and 11/25/2011 are ink jetted on the back of each package.

Each package bears the establishment number "EST. 6935" or "EST. 10002" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The code number "6935" is ink jetted on the back of each package. These products were produced on various dates from January 28, 2010, through May 21, 2010, and were sent to Firehouse Foods, Inc., a distributor in Alsip, Ill., for further Internet and retail sales.

The problem was discovered by FSIS during a labeling review at the establishment. FSIS has received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an allergic reaction should contact a physician.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – July 2, 2010 – Commack, NY – Setton International Foods, Inc. is voluntarily recalling limited quantities of its Fairway brand Energy Mix and its Setton Farms brand Total Energy Mix sold to select stores in NY and NJ because they may contain peanuts and chocolate flavored chips (Sugar, Partially Hydrogenated Palm Kernel Oil, Cocoa, Cocoa Processed with Alkali, Sorbitan Monosterate (An Emulsifier), Salt, Soy Lecithin (An Emulsifier), Vanillin (An Artificial Flavor)) not listed on the label.

No illnesses or complaints have been reported to date in connection with these products, although people who are allergic to peanuts could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume these products.

The recalled Fairway "Energy Mix" products were sold to Fairway stores in NY and NJ and the Setton Farms "Total Energy Mix" products were sold to the Associated 9th Ave. store in NY, the Keyfood Gerritsen Ave. store in NY, limited Foodtown stores in NJ, and select ShopRite stores in NY and NJ.

The recall affects the following products:


15 cases of Fairway brand Energy Mix sold in 16 oz. clear plastic containers with an "Exp." date of 05/24/11 through 06/28/11 with the UPC code: 34325 00050.
33 cases of Setton Farms brand Total Energy Mix sold in 22 oz. clear plastic containers with a "Exp." date of 06/3/11 with the UPC code: 34325 03559.


These products were shipped directly to stores and not through distributors. All affected stores have been instructed to remove the products from their shelves.

San Antonio Packing Company Recalls Cervelat Sausage Product due to an Undeclared Allergen

WASHINGTON, June 30, 2010 - San Antonio Packing Company, a San Antonio, Texas, establishment, is recalling approximately 9,408 lbs. of Cervelat Summer Sausage because it may contain an undeclared allergen, milk, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. The recalled products do not have an ingredients statement. The product contains milk, a known potential allergen, which is not declared on the label.

The following products are subject to recall:
16 oz. packages of “APCO BRAND MEATS CERVELAT SUMMER SAUSAGE.” Each package bears the establishment number “EST. 602” inside the USDA mark of inspection and a sell-by date up to Sept. 22, 2010.

These products were produced on various dates from April 14, 2010, through June 22, 2010, and were distributed to retail establishments in South Texas. When available, the retail distribution list(s) will be posted on FSIS’ Web site at http://www.fsis.usda.gov/FSIS_Recalls/

Champion Nutrition Chocolate Peanut Butter Pure Whey Protein recalled due to undeclared peanut.


June 29, 2010 - Sunrise, FL - Champion Nutrition is recalling five lots of Champion Nutrition Chocolate Peanut Butter Pure Whey Protein 5lb. Product was distributed domestically throughout the U.S. This recall is being initiated due to an incomplete allergen statement for peanuts in the ingredient section of the label. People who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. However, peanuts are prominently displayed on the principal display panel, the flavor Chocolate Peanut Butter is prominent and there is a statement that the product was manufactured in a facility that uses peanuts, tree nuts etc.

There have been no reports of adverse events associated with the identified products. However, your assistance is appreciated and necessary to prevent consumer illness.

Consumers who purchased the product can contact Champion Nutrition for instructions on a return and refund or replacement product at 1-800-225-4831 Monday thru Friday 8 am to 4:30 pm EST.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 18, 2010 – Buffalo, NY – Rich Products Corporation on June 18, 2010 voluntarily recalled its Allen Bavarian Crème Filling (product code 02881) with Production codes 11870137F21, F-22, F-23, F-24, F-25, because the product may contain undeclared pecans, milk, and coconut. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to these ingredients run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Rich Products Corporation has not received any reports of illness connected with this product and has issued this voluntary recall as a precautionary measure.

The pail size is 3.5 gallons. Pail weight is 31.0 lbs and the pail material is HDPE (High Density Polyethylene). Allen Bavarian Crème Filling is not packaged for retail distribution and is sold to foodservice distributors and in-store bakeries nationwide. Rich’s has already notified all of its distributors and customers who have received the products in question and has directed them to remove and destroy the affected products.

Consumers who have severe sensitivity to sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume this product.

The product comes in 16 oz, clear plastic vacuum packed bags. The recalled Strawberry Farm Sun Dried Tomatoes were distributed in Queens, NY to a retail store.

The recall was initiated after routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets Food Inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the 16 oz vacuum packed bags Strawberry Farm Sun Dried Tomatoes which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfites sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the Strawberry Farms Sun Dried Tomatoes revealed they contained 197 milligrams per 4 oz serving.

No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date. Tree Nut Allergy Alert



CINCINNATI, June 10 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- The Kroger Co. said today it is recalling select containers of Kroger Deluxe Chocolate Paradise Ice Cream sold in 17 states because it may contain tree nuts not listed on the label. Customers should return the product to stores for a full refund or replacement.

People who are allergic to tree nuts could have a serious or life-threatening reaction if they consume this product. For consumers who are not allergic to tree nuts, there is no safety issue with the product.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 4, 2010 - Teaneck, N.J. Eastern Fish is alerting consumers that Hannaford Supermarkets and Bloom brands of frozen raw extra jumbo (16/20) shrimp in 16 oz packages, as well as these brands of shrimp from the full-service seafood cases, labeled as product of Mexico, sold May 4 through June 4 at Hannaford Supermarkets and sold April 8 through June 4 at Bloom grocery stores, are subject to a voluntary recall because the products may contain undeclared sulfites. People who have an allergy or sensitivity to sulfites risk an allergic reaction if they consume these products.

To date, the company has received no reports of adverse reaction associated with these products. Customers are asked to return any Hannaford or Bloom brands of frozen 16/20 shrimp products to their store for a full refund if the Hannaford or Bloom frozen extra jumbo shrimp product of Mexico were purchased from Hannaford Supermarkets or Bloom grocery stores during the specified timeframes.

Subsequent analysis of the product by New York State Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the 10 oz packages of DRIED MELON which were not declared on the label. The consumption of 10 milligrams of sulfites per serving has been reported to elicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. Anaphylactic shock could occur in certain sulfite sensitive individuals upon ingesting 10 milligrams or more of sulfites. Analysis of the DRIED MELON revealed they contained 1199 .4 PPM.

No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - May 18, 2010 - Dominguez Family Enterprises, of Hood River, Ore., is voluntarily recalling three Mexican bread products due to undeclared Whey (Milk), Soy Flour, and Wheat. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to Whey (Milk), Soy Flour, and Wheat could run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consumed these products.

The recalled products are "Juanita's Brand" Cuernos, Pan Huevo and Ojos Mexican breads. They are packaged 6-count in a clear plastic clamshell container with a white, red and green label. Cuernos is a croissant-like product; Pan Huevo has pink, white, yellow, & chocolate topping; and Ojos is red and rolled in coconut flakes. If you have any of these products with the "best by" dates of 5/12/2010 though 6/05/2010, please return to the retail store and ask for a refund.

Products were distributed in five retail stores in Oregon, five retail stores in Washington, and one retail store in Anchorage, Alaska.

Galant Food Co.recalls chicken puff & beef puff products due to undeclared egg.


WASHINGTON, May 12, 2010 - Galant Food Co., a San Francisco, Calif., establishment, is recalling approximately 250 pounds of chicken puff products and beef puff products because they contain an undeclared allergen, egg, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. Egg is a known potential allergen, which is not declared on the label.

The chicken puff products also contain soy and yellow #5, to which some individuals have an allergic response or intolerance. Neither soy nor yellow #5 is declared on the recalled chicken puff products' label.

Cardboard trays containing 24 puffs, labeled "GALINA'S PIROSHKI, Chicken Provance Puffs." The bottom center of each label reads "CASE COUNT 24, NET WT. 5 oz., KEEP FROZEN." Each package bears the establishment number "P-9014" inside the USDA mark of inspection. Partial orders may have been placed, in which case the cardboard trays contain fewer than 24 puffs per tray.
Cardboard trays containing 24 puffs, labeled "GALINA'S PIROSHKI, Beef & Farm Vegetables Puffs." The bottom center of each label reads "CASE COUNT 24, NET WT. 5 oz., KEEP FROZEN." Each package bears the establishment number "Est. 9014" inside the USDA mark of inspection. Partial orders may have been placed, in which case the cardboard trays contain fewer than 24 puffs per tray.

The chicken and beef puffs were produced on various dates between March 2010 and May 11, 2010, and were distributed to retail establishments in the San Francisco, Calif., area. The products would have been prepared and sold individually to customers at bakeries, delis and similar establishments.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - May 04, 2010 - SOLON, OHIO – Nestlé USA's Baking Division is initiating a voluntary recall of select Nestlé® CARNATION® Famous Fudge Kits because the outer containers of some of the kits were distributed without a complete allergen precautionary statement. Consumers who have allergies to peanuts run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reactions if they consume products containing peanuts.

The Famous Fudge Kits are seasonal items distributed nationwide in supermarkets and club stores. The only products involved in the voluntary recall include Nestlé CARNATION Famous Fudge Kits distributed during the 2009 holiday season with day codes beginning with 9225 through 9259, and a "Best By" date of June/July 2010. The UPC codes for the affected products are 50000-62251 for the retail version, and 50000-62248 for the club store version. No other Nestlé products are impacted by this recall.

The components contained in the kit were completely labeled, including a precautionary statement on one component stating "made in a facility that also processes peanuts". However, the outer containers of some of the kits were distributed without a complete precautionary statement. As the health and safety of our consumers is paramount, we are initiating this voluntary recall. We have advised the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and will cooperate with them fully in this voluntary recall. Providing safe, high quality products to our consumers is our number one priority.

Consumers who are allergic to peanuts and who have purchased the recalled products are advised by Nestlé not to consume them.
