WASHINGTON, March 12, 2010 - Fernando's Food Corporation, a Compton, Calif., establishment, is recalling approximately 9,400 pounds of enchilada products because they were inadvertently mislabeled and contain an undeclared allergen, milk, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. Milk is a known potential allergen, which is not declared on the label. The product subject to recall includes: [View Labels (PDF Only)] 9.84-pound cases of "CASA SOLANA BEEF CHICKEN AND TEXTURED VEGETABLE PROTEIN PRODUCT ENCHILADA." Each case contains 90 enchiladas and bears case code numbers "2103745" and "24947," as well as the establishment number "EST. 6492" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The enchilada products were produced on Jan. 28, 2010, Feb. 16, 2010, and Feb. 28, 2010 and were sent to distributors in Ala., Ark., Calif., Tenn., and Texas. The problem was discovered by the company in a review of its inventory. FSIS has received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. WASHINGTON, March 8, 2010 - Rudolph Foods Company, Inc., a San Bernardino, Calif., establishment is recalling approximately 186 pounds of Baken-ets Fried Pork Skins because the "Hot'N Spicy" version was packaged in a "Traditional" bag. The "Hot'N Spicy" fried pork skins contain monosodium glutamate (MSG), which is not declared on the "Traditional" fried pork skins' label. The products subject to recall include: 3 ¾-ounce packages of "BAKEN-ETS TRADITIONAL FRIED PORK SKINS." Each package bears the USDA mark of inspection, a Guaranteed Fresh until printed date of "MAY 4," MFG Code of "17920530303," establishment number "EST. 0525," and UPC No. "0 28400 01587 5." The products were produced on February 22, 2010, and were shipped to distribution centers for further retail sales in Ariz., Calif., N.M., and Texas. Landmark Brand Raw Goat Cheddar The company delivered into the market place 500 pounds of cheese that is labeled as Landmark Brand Raw Goat Cheddar. This product is misbranded. The cheese in the package is actually Cheddar Cheese made from cow’s milk. Milk is listed as an ingredient on the label, the origin of the milk is what is incorrect. Announces Voluntary Recall of Wegmans 9 oz. Food You Feel Good About® Medium Seafood Sauce Due to Undeclared Ingrediants on Label. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE -- March 05, 2010 - Rochester, NY - Ed Roller, Inc. of Rochester, NY is voluntarily recalling Wegmans Food You Feel Good About® Medium Seafood Sauce, 9 ounce glass jar, UPC #77890 84032, because the product may contain undeclared soy and anchovies. Only those jars with a sell-by date up to and including April 21 are included in this recall. The sell-by date is heat stamped on the label. People who have allergies to soy or anchovies run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. To date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with this problem. The recalled product is packaged in a 9 oz. clear glass jar with a white screw top and was distributed to 75 Wegmans Food Markets in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Virginia, and Maryland. The recall was initiated after a recent inspection by the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets revealed the omission of Worcestershire sauce in the ingredient statement of this product. (48 oz./1.42L) packages of Chocolate Marshmallow Premium Ice Cream because the product may contain almonds that were inadvertently added during production. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this issue, although people who have allergies to almonds run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products. The product is safe for consumption by consumers without nut allergies. The recalled Chocolate Marshmallow Premium Ice Cream is limited only to select stores in central Pennsylvania. All affected stores are directly delivered to and serviced by Turkey Hill Dairy and have been instructed to remove the product from their shelves. The recall was initiated after it was discovered that the recalled product was distributed in packaging that did not identify almonds as an ingredient. It is believed that less than 150 containers of ice cream were potentially exposed to almonds. All affected containers would have been purchased by consumers after January 28, 2010 The product comes in a rounded, rectangular, cream-colored, paperboard, 48 oz. packages with farm scene and ice cream scoop graphics. The affected product is marked on the bottom of the package with the code “01/18/2011 56/L1”. Preceding the code is a four-digit number indicating the production time. The recalled product includes a time between 02:25 and 02:35. This product is being recalled because it contains egg, soy, and wheat, and was distributed in packaging that did not reveal the presence of these ingredients. The product is manufactured using bread crumbs which contain these allergens. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to egg, soy, or wheat run the risk of a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products. The recalled "Jumbo Shells with Cheese" were distributed in retail stores in Michigan, West Virginia, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, Colorado, Texas, Kentucky, North Carolina, Virginia, and Florida. The "Jumbo Shells with Cheese" product comes in a 24 oz. package marked with UPC numbers 039106333347 on the back center of the package with an expiration date 01/2011 and all dates prior to 01/2011. To date Pierino Frozen Foods knows of one confirmed mild reaction reported by a consumer of this product. Pierino Frozen Foods immediately took action toward a recall after it was discovered that the egg ingredient was undeclared on packaging. Subsequent investigation indicated the problem was with labeling. Distribution of the "Jumbo Shells with Cheese" manufactured by Pierino Frozen Foods has been suspended until new packaging is available, which will contain wording in the product ingredient statement stating that there are eggs in the product. Issues Allergy Alert On Undeclared Sulfites In Aahu Barah Brand Dry Apricot FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – February 01, 2010 – Global Commodities Inc. of Hicksville, NY is recalling its 0.50 lbs. packages of Aahu Barah brand Dry Apricot food treats because they contain undeclared Sulfites. People who have allergies to Sulfites run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume this product. The recalled Dry Apricots were distributed in New York State in some retail stores. The product comes in a 0.50 lbs., clear plastic package marked with Dry Apricot with an expiration date of 12/2013 stamped on the side. No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem. The recall was initiated after routine sampling by NY State Agriculture & Markets inspectors and subsequent analysis by Food Laboratory personnel revealed the presence of sulfites in the 0.50 lbs. package of dried apricots which were not declared on the label. Subsequently, investigation indicated the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the company’s production and packaging processes. Production of the product has been suspended until the company is certain that the problem has been corrected. The consumption of 10 mg of sulfites per serving has been reported to illicit severe reactions in some asthmatics. January 9, 2010 - Rudolph Foods Company, Inc., a San Bernardino, Calif., establishment, is recalling approximately 205 pounds of pork skin products because they were inadvertently mislabeled and contain an undeclared allergen, milk, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today. Milk is a known potential allergen, which is not declared on the label. The following product is subject to recall: [View Label] 3.5-ounce packages of "Pepe's Gigante Louisiana Hot Sauce Flavored Cracklins." Each package bears a use by date of "03/19/2010," as well as the establishment number "EST. 0525" inside the USDA mark of inspection. The pork skin products were produced on December 18, 2009, and were sent to distributors in the Southern California region. The problem was discovered by the company following a product check. FSIS has received no reports of adverse reactions due to consumption of these products. Anyone concerned about an allergic reaction should contact a physician. Faribault Foods announced that it is recalling Health Valley Organic No Salt Added Split Pea Soup (15 oz.) with the lot codes 22JUL2011, 18AUG2011, and 11SEP2011 because of the presence of an undeclared dairy allergen. This soup contains butter and potatoes, which are not listed on the ingredient statements of the affected lots.
