Volunteers Make KFA Possible
National Volunteer Week is just around the corner. Did you know that in 2008, KFA volunteers contributed more than 10,000 hours— valued at more than $200,000 according to the Independent Sector? The vital and valued work of volunteers helps KFA accomplish its mission in ways it would not be able to do otherwise. For their efforts, we are sincerely grateful, and we hope you are too. In recognition of National Volunteer Week, please consider making a donation to honor a KFA volunteer or volunteers who have been of special help to you. |

|
Kind regards,
Lynda Mitchell, KFA President
|
Please provide information about who you would like to honor when you submit your donation so that KFA can mail a recognition note to the honoree.

AAAAI: Allergen Labels May Not Predict Food Content
Some food labels without an allergen statement may in fact contain traces of allergens. Additionally, the various terms used on food labels (such as "may contain" or "produced in a facility that also processes") do not correlate with the likelihood of actual allergens in food.
FAAN Medical Advisory Board Responds to Over the Counter Allergy Treatment
"There is no link between Allertherapy™ and a study recently presented at the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology. The company's attempt to connect its treatment to a recently publicized peanut immunotherapy study at Duke University Medical Center and Arkansas Children's Hospital that was conducted under strict medical supervision is of great concern due to the potential harm that the unknown effects of Allertherapy™ may inflict."
ABC News: Allergic to Everything (video)
Meet KFA Member Becky Ringstrom and her son Blake, who tested "allergic to everything" and was fed through a stomach tube, but after undergoing oral food challenges at National Jewish Health in Denver, is now eating "normal" meals. Blake's story aired on ABC's Nightline recently.
