Hold a House Party featuring one or more recipes from our current KFA Recipe Showdown competition to raise awareness about food allergies while supporting KFA, a nationwide tax-exempt nonprofit charity.
Donations raised at your House Party will go toward meeting our ambitious goal of offering even more great support resources to help families and their children in 2009!
Your house party can be small and simple or as large as you want it to be; it can be a dinner with friends, a family get-together, a Labor Day family barbeque, or whatever type of party that works best for you.
At your House Party, serve one or more recipes submitted to the KFA Recipe Showdown, invite your guests to vote on their favorites, and use it as an opportunity to collect donations from your party guests for KFA. You can earn some great incentive gifts from KFA based on the amount of funds you raise during your party.
KFA provides the recipes for your menu, a party-planning checklist, invitations, scorecards, and educational materials. You supply the location, food and guests!
We're looking for those of you who appreciate what KFA does to help families and are willing to host a party to raise funds to support our work. Will you help our cause and reach a goal of 50 house parties - the equivalent of just one per state - by being a party host? |

Three-Year-Old Saves Brother's Life with EpiPen
On May 24, her 20-month-old, son Ryan, who is deathly allergic to peanuts, went into anaphylactic shock. His heart stopped and he was not breathing.
"I froze when I couldn’t get a pulse," says Pople. “Then my three-year-old son, Alexander, grabbed his brother’s EpiPen and gave it to him in the thigh as his dad had taught him and screamed for his grandma to call 911.”
The FDA Will Hold a Public Hearing on September 16th on Current Trends in the Use of Allergen Advisory Labeling
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is announcing a public hearing on the use of advisory labeling of allergens in foods. To that end, FDA is soliciting comments and information to assist the agency in determining how manufacturers currently use advisory labeling, how consumers interpret different advisory labeling statements, and what wording is likely to be most effective in communicating to consumers the likelihood that an allergen may be present in a food. The agency is also interested in receiving comments about whether consumers find advisory labeling helpful for making food purchasing decisions.
