Kids With Food Allergies, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit charity.  Your tax-deductible donation, large or small, makes a huge difference! KFA does not raise money to find a cure. Instead, KFA uses all donations to create better lives today for children with food allergies by providing education and a caring support community for their families and caregivers.

2010 Holiday Fundraising Campaign: Give the Gift of Hope!
Fundraising Goal is $60,000
In 2010, KFA has already helped tens of thousands of people.  We are here as a lifeline when parents feel alone dealing with food allergies.  Perhaps you are one of the people who have relied on KFA for support and information this year. We hope to help even more families in 2011.  But, we can't do it without you.  If we have helped you in 2010 or in the past, or if you simply understand how important day-to-day support like ours is to families, please consider making a donation and give the gift of hope to all families living with food allergies.

One of our 2010 new members is Jennifer, who wrote to say, "KFA has helped me so much, I would have been so much more lost without it!"

Jennifer came to us when her one-year-old was diagnosed with milk, egg, soy and wheat allergies. She was quickly able to get reliable information from our e-newsletters and website resources; recipes to use from KFA's online database of 1,000 recipes; and reassurance and advice from other parents through our warm and supportive online community.

Your donation, small or large, will give hope and reassurance to families like Jennifer's, as well as practical help to families struggling to take care of their children and keep them safe and well-nourished.

This is our only fundraising drive of the year.  Please consider making a donation today.

Donate to KFA
Your donations are more important than ever.

Gratefully,
Lynda Mitchell
President, Kids With Food Allergies

University of Nebraska Studying Thresholds for Allergenic Foods
The Food Allergy
Research and Resource Program is trying to establish at which point allergens trigger physical reactions; such information would then allow the FDA to set regulatory thresholds— the amount of an allergenic food that can be tolerated without an adverse reaction.

Survey Shows Allergy-Friendly Foods are a Top Menu Trend for 2011
The top 10 menu trends for 2011 will be locally sourced meats and seafood, locally grown produce, sustainability as a culinary theme, nutritious kids’ dishes, hyper-local items, children’s nutrition as a culinary theme, sustainable seafood, gluten-free/food allergy-conscious items, back-to-basics cuisine and farm-branded ingredients.

Want to serve treats that taste great, are allergy friendly, and are wholesome too? Started by the mom of a child with food allergies, HomeFree bakes delicious whole grain cookies and coffeecakes in our own dedicated bakery free of peanuts, tree nuts, eggs, and dairy, and the only soy is soy lecithin (none in oatmeal cookies). Our goal is for people with all different special dietary needs to be able to join in with everyone else, so HomeFree treats are also kosher pareve, low sodium, vegetarian, and most of our products are certified organic. And new: HomeFree oatmeal cookies and mini oatmeal chocolate chip cookies are now additionally certified gluten free (all natural). Watch for the yellow gluten free packaging.  You can find HomeFree's allergen-free baking cookbook, allergen-tested baking ingredients, award-winning baked treats, and our store locator at www.homefreetreats.com. Be Careful What You Rub on Eczema
"Last night, we had the pleasure of listening to an allergist and researcher at our local support group meeting. One thing that was interesting to me was that he said you can sensitize a kid to a food — that they will later become allergic to — by rubbing that food (or food derivative) onto their eczema."
