Kids With Food Allergies, Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit charity.  Your tax-deductible donation, large or small, makes a huge difference! KFA does not raise money to find a cure. Instead, KFA uses all donations to create better lives today for children with food allergies by providing education and a caring support community for their families and caregivers.

A Flourishing Five Years

It's hard to believe five years has passed since our "doors" opened on February 28, 2005. Since then, Kids With Food Allergies has seen tremendous growth. We currently have more than 18,000 members and our website has become one of the most valuable food allergy resources — attracting more than 30,000 unique monthly visitors and 750,000 total annual visits.

Two core values have guided our mission since our launch as a grass-roots nonprofit organization in 2005. First, we believe that a good support system can be valuable in teaching families ways to successfully integrate the challenges of food allergies into everyday living. Second, we recognize that the Internet can be a valuable tool in connecting families with others raising children with food allergies.

We've relied on you — whether you are a parent, supporter or professional who has helped us along the way — for your volunteer service, donations, memberships, encouragement and participation. And, we've taken your opinions and suggestions to heart in prioritizing what education, support and food/cooking help families need most, especially families with young children. We hope it shows!

Thank you for being a part of our success — and future!

anniversary this week!

How Do You Relieve Stress?
"I know that all of us have high-stress periods when trying to take care of our food allergic children, juggle doctors appointments, navigate social situations, and so on... I really don't have any good ways of dealing with this stress so I'm looking for suggestions."

How do you find time for yourself to relax and rejuvenate? Share your suggestions and find out what other parents are doing.

Kosher for Passover Time!
"We wait for Passover with the zeal that kids wait for Santa, around here. I buy the year's supply of corn-free marshmallows, which will fill Easter eggs and be toasted over a campfire in July."

There are certain hard-to-find items — especially products made without soy or corn — that are specially made for consumption during Passover. For some families managing restricted diets, Kosher for Passover foods can offer options not available otherwise. Parents share what treasured products are available.

Challenging Children to See if They Have Overcome a Food Allergy (Video)
Dr. Leigh Ann Kerns discusses the oral food challenge, a procedure that allows doctors to determine if a child is still allergic to a particular food.

Colleges Accommodate More Students with Food Allergies
"Matthew Greenhawt, an allergist and clinical lecturer at the University of Michigan, says he anticipates ‘an explosion of kids about to arrive on college campuses who have food allergies.’ But their attitudes toward those allergies are often apathetic or risky, he says, citing a survey he conducted of Michigan students, showing that many who knew they had allergies intentionally ate those foods, often because they had yet to experience a severe reaction."

Exciting Advance Reported in Peanut Allergy Therapy
CNN reports that a study conducted at Cambridge University Hospitals in the United Kingdom showed 21 of 23 peanut-allergic children were able to tolerate peanuts after immunotherapy.
