Parents of Food Allergic Kids Support Forums

KFA hosts over 20 support forums dedicated to particular topics or groups. Below is a summary of some of the support forums that are currently offered (mouse-over to read descriptions):

Support Forums Open to All Members:

± POFAK Main Support Forum The "heart and soul" of POFAK. Discuss all aspects of food allergy, anaphylaxis, drug allergy, latex allergy, and more. ± Parents of Babies, Toddlers, Preschoolers A popular forum for parents dealing with the new diagnosis of food allergies for a baby, toddler or preschooler. Topics include nutrition concerns, food introductions, playgroups and preschool issues. ± Parents of School-Age Kids, Tweens, & Teens Parenting issues involving older food-allergic children; share school planning advice (health plans, emergency forms, and legal issues) and other tips for dealing with food allergies at school. ± Breastfeeding with Food Allergies Support for mothers on allergy elimination diets for food allergies and intolerances; share tips for elimination diets, total elimination diets, supplementation, "what's to eat?", and more! Find support related to nursing a food allergic infant or child. ± Formula and Special Medical Foods A place for parents to discuss hypoallergenic formulas and elemental (amino-acid based) medical food formulas such as Neocate® or EleCare®. Topics range from weaning to insurance coverage for elemental formulas. ± Parenting a Child on No Foods or Few Foods Discuss social issues that arise from elemental formula-only diets (oral or tube-fed), and issues related to enteral tube feeding. These children are on no-foods diets due to conditions such as multiple food protein allergies, FPIES, eosinophilic disorders, Hyper IgE disorders or other rare conditions. ± Parents of Children with Eosinophilic Disorders Support for for families with a child who has (or is suspected as having) an eosinophilic disorder, or for information on eosinophilic disorders, including eosinophilic esophagitis (EE), eosinophilic gastroenteritis (EGE), eosinophilic gastrointestinal disorder (EGID), or other eosinophilic conditions. ± Parents of Children with FPIES Support for families with a child who has (or is suspected of having) Food Protein-Induced Enterocolitis Syndrome (FPIES). FPIES includes those diagnosed with Milk (MPIES), Soy (SPIES), and Milk/Soy Protein-Induced Enterocolitis (MSPIES). Join other parents for information and support related to the FPIES diagnosis.

Come think "Outside the Bakery Box" and join the allergy safe celebration! ± Discuss Recipes from Safe Eats™ This is the place to post your comments, suggestions or questions about allergy safe recipes located in our Safe Eats ™ Recipe Database. ± Food Allergy News & Research Post and talk about press releases, news stories, snips from journal abstracts and journal articles about the latest news for food allergies, environmental allergies, anaphylaxis, eczema, asthma and allergic rhinitis. ± Asthma, Eczema and Gastroesophageal Reflux (GERD) Support and information for families with a child who has, or is suspected of having, asthma, eczema (atopic dermatitis) or gastroesophageal reflux (reflux, GERD). Join other parents for information and support related to these conditions, which many food-allergic children have but are not necessarily related to their food allergies. ± Food Allergy Organization Leaders This forum is free to food allergy support group leaders nationwide, as well as representatives of other allergy nonprofit organizations who wish to share and discuss outreach, advocacy and other issues of interest.
